January 11th Meeting Report

We enjoyed a good meeting last night at the Lutheran church, hearing and critiquing 7 readers. The meeting was great but our weekly blog post is a bare-bones report because the editor is buying a house (see brag), which is exciting but also stressful and busy... Anyway here is a bit about our meeting and what's going on:

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Four day passes to Disney Land have been donated to our raffle! If you have anything you would like to donate, please contact Amanda.

Elections for our officer positions are coming up in March. Nominations are open and if you can not attend our March meeting contact Jay and he will get you an absentee ballot.

WRITING TIP from Jo Wilkins:

Every writer should be a people watcher. Without knowing how others act, how can you write a story containing personality conflicts? When you’re at a restaurant, take time to look around. What types of people sit near you? Try to guess who they are by what you see. Do you see/hear gestures or a speech pattern that defines one of your characters? Your goal -- make your characters natural & believable.

Our next weekly meeting is Monday Feb 18th at the Albertsons. Wolf will be giving a presentation about some of the less-known features of Word and how they can help improve your writing.
