Monday Meeting at Saxby's 72 Horizon Ridge Parkway @ Horizon 6:30-8:30 PM. Guest speaker Chuck Sambuchino of Writers Digest Magazine will come and talk with us about "How to Write A Query Letter"

Speaking of Writers Digest here is a submission call. They are looking for articles to be included in the 2013 Writers Market book and 2013 Poet's Market. Check out the submission guidelines

Calling for submission for the HWG Cookbook, yep it's ready to go and publication in time for Christmas. Don't we all love delightful secret family recipes? HWG members have some scrumptious dishes and they are sharing them with all of you. The cookbook is a fundraiser for the HWG scholarship fund we support for student writers. BRAGS! BRAGS! BRAGS!

Our members are lighting up the publishing world with all their fabulous news!

Kathie Harrington signed FIVE contracts, this past week with Willow Moon Publishing. This publishers read Kathie's submission a while ago while working under a different publisher. She kept her interested list and contacted Kathie when she branched out on her own. Kathie signed her four short stories and  novel Dance with Fireflies.

If you attend the weekly meetings then you know our star student writer Ariel. Ariel has won our student writers contest the last two years and took advantage of her first place winning a full scholarship to attend the Las Vegas Writers Conference. This past year her writing caught the attention of Penguin Publishing and also a literary agent who was part of the faculty. Ariel has submitted pages of her novel. Fingers crossed and we'll keep you posted.We are so proud of Ariel!

Yes I am happy to report yet another stellar review for Seven-Inch Vinyl. by HWG Member author Donald Riggio. Donald is currently working on the sequel Beyond the Vinyl. Keep 'em coming Donald!

Sad News we hate to hear.

Sisters In Crime Las Vegas Chapter says farewell. Sad news for mystery writers in the Las Vegas Valley. Read Morgan St. James Examiner article.

On a happier note from Morgan St. James, read her weekly Writers Tricks of the Trade article on  How should I end my story? Always appreciated with a "Like" it or leave a comment. Look for Morgan's book on Writers Tricks of the Trade, coming soon I'll keep you posted on the release.
